Pig Trotter Bee Hoon

I finally got my new place and had been staying here for 2 months. Everything is great here except the food selection is so limited especially when compared to Toa Payoh. That's one of the reason why I had start to cook.

My cooking journey had been pretty much a blessing as most dishes I tried to cook are successful (except for the soup, still trying very hard).

I start off by goggling for simple recipes or recipe that were my childhood food.

One of my childhood food turns out to pretty easy which is the Pig Trotter Bee Hoon.

Ingredients
1 tbsp cooking oil
3 tsp chopped garlic
3 eggs (lightly beaten) - You can have more if you wish
1 plate of shredded cabbage (I used half of a Beijing cabbage)
3 cans of Narcissus brand (水仙花牌)
1 packet of Chilli brand Bee Hoon (400g)
1 tbsp dark soya sauce
2 tsp light soya sauce
Pepper to taste

Method

  • Soak the bee hoon in cold water for around 30 mins (Do not use hot water, your bee hoon will break into small pieces and they absorb more liquid which cause the end product to be more watery). Drain and set aside.
  • Heat oil in work and add in chopped garlic. Fry till fragrant. Do not burn it.
  • Push garlic to the side and add in beaten eggs. Scramble the eggs.
  • Add in cabbage and mixed well with the garlic and eggs. Fry for around 2 minutes. Push to the side.
  • Add in the 3 cans of the pig trotters.
  • Once the fluid of the pig trotters boils, add in bee hoon and mixed all the ingredients.
  • Cover the wok and let it simmers for 3-4 minutes to allows the bee hoon to absorb the liquid and flavors.
  • Add in light soya sauce, dark soya sauce and pepper. Mix well.
This is a pretty simple recipe. You need to set aside some hot water in case the bee hoon gets too dry.

The above recipe is enough to serve 4-6 people.

Enjoy cooking :)

Annual BKK trip - 24-27 Apr 2013

BKK is an annual must go destination for hub and me but the ticket price seems to be going up...boooo...no more cheap tickets.

At least we managed to get pretty good deal for our accommodation at Novotel Platinum,  S$90/room/night.

The hotel location is superb, just on top of Platinum Mall - shop and load, shop and load....hehehe

Manage to surprise hub again with the help of the hotel as this was our anniversary trip but he say can't use this again =(

Overall trip was fun but it was far toooooooo hotttttt......average 39-40 degrees....everyone were sweating buckets!

We cut down on the midnight shopping as I couldn't take it as well this year but we ate a hell lot of food! I gain around 3kg in 4 days.

Got ourselves local thailand sim card with unlimited data plan, its really cheap, only 299baht (which is around SGD13) for 7 days unlimited date plan and 100 baht worth of calls, what else can you ask for? Hehehe....so whatsapp, instagram and fb on the go

Decor on the bed by the hotel =)
Complimentary cake from Novotel
The super comfy bed that I wanted to ship back home so badly

Malacca - Weekend Getaway 23&24 Mar 2013

Just came back from a weekend getaway to Malacca with Ping and Carmen.

It was a great trip, amid the weight gain and the super hot weather :p

Morning was a mad rush cause I kinda overslept but somehow I still managed to grab Mac breakfast for us :)

Took the 8am Luxury coach from Concorde Hotel, the journey was longggg....its took almost 4.5 hrs, enough for us to go KL!

The good thing is that our hotel, Courtyard at Hereen is ready when we reached. The gals loved the hotel, room was great, decor was perfect, breakfast was yummy (they concluded it served the best chicken rice in Malacca) and service was top-notched!

We had a hell lot of food stuffed into our tummy within those 2 days and with karoke at The Jetty and shopping at San Shu Gong.

Chung Wah Chicken Rice Ball - Must try! Chicken meat is tender and juciy, the sour is sour and spicy. But prepared to queue under the scotching hot sun which we did for 30 mins!

Jonker 88 - chendol and Baba salad...nom nom

Nancy's Kitchen - kueh, pie tee, popiah and ngoh hiang...their kueh is really must try!!

Capitol Satay Celup - Carmen love it so much that she still craving for it now, but gotta be there early, the queue is super horrible

Jonker Night Market - got 2 boxes of muah chee (I swear this is damn yummy, soft with good peanuts), 6 taiwan sausages, 3 cups of chin chow, 3 cups of herbal tea, 1 packet of char kway teow, 1 popiah, 1 vegetable fritters, 3 pancakes, 1 egg ice-cream and a stick of quail eggs......and best part is everything is so worth the stomach space....nom nom

Hoe Kee Chicken Rice - Not worth if you gotta queue for it, chicken pretty ordinary and they stopped serving chicken rice ball from 17Mar

Nadeje Patisserie - A must try! We tried their original and double chocolate :)

A&W - curly fries and root beer float

And that concludes the end of our eating trip. Planning for a trip to KL next with a concert :)

Hubby moonlighting

My hubby helped to color my nails and everyone is saying that he is pretty good for a first-timer.

How did he even help me do it in the first place, you must be wondering?

I actually tried to do it myself while he was out with his friends but I guess my hands were too lousy, they did a terrible job, thus he offered to help me :)

I find him so good that I wanna send him to those nail courses but he ignore me! He say I must learn to do it myself :(

Anyway, going to buy more colors to try out....hahaha...and I shall continue to ask him to help me do it *evil grins*

New colors that I got to try out

Hubby hard at work on my feet

 And the final results :)

DnD 2013

Attended the company DnD on the 15th of last month at Fullerton Hotel.

The ballroom was great and the food was yummy! It was definitely much better than last year.

As usual, I didn't win any prizes, just not that lucky with lucky draws :(
